Day 1 - Falcon Lake to Dryden - Tues, June 18, 2013

Day 1 June 18, 2013  our 36th wedding anniversary!

Started the day with Robert and Colin having a great waterski with Colin and his new ski. Water was calm and it was sunny.

Gassed up in townsite and left from Falcon Lake  after noon - saw bald eagle soaring above. Good omen!

Got to edge of Kenora and biked from Kenora info centre to town  and did banking and post office and checked at King's furniture to see if our dining table was still in stock. It was...

Drove to Dryden .  just gorgeous - lots of beautiful lakes.

Met Glenda and Jenna McLean (Nick's mom and sister) and Jenna's boyfriend Brad at Dairy Queen so they could show us the way to the hospital.  We had a short visit in parking lot to return photos used for Stephanie and Nick's wedding video, then visited uncle Rene Lavoie in Dryden hospital. Met cousin Chris and wife Lottie, Cousin Maria's son Dustin and his 3 year old son Jack, and cousin Susan's daughter Autumn and her boy friend who were also visiting.  Didn't stay long... had a very pleasant visit. Uncle Rene seemed happy to see us and recognized Robert right away. He thought I looked like Jeannine. Joked a bit with us but seemed very tired.

Drove a few minutes out of town to camp at Aaron Provincial Park - site 34,  with eastern cedars around campsite.  Price was $33.00 for our non electrical site.  Rabbit was there when we arrived and stayed most of evening eating dandelion stalks.  Watched sunset. Beautiful spot. Very private. Great showers- no charge.

During short evening walk to beach , met 2 guys from Quebec -Mathieu and Augustin  -  we had noticed their MTN bikes on their car.  Robert and 2 guys  made plans to go  riding at Ghost lake /Mavis lake trails in morning.

Had port, Fernie chocolates and watched Contact on computer .  Lovely first day/ evening! Perfect weather.
