Day 10 - St-Michel to Cocagne, NB - Thurs, June 27

Up at 7:00 AM, started getting ready to leave, then said our goodbyes to Marcel and Diane, who were already awake. We then left for next village, St- Valliers, to a small bakery Marcel highly recommended.

The bakery with all the goodies!

The Goodies!

We bought some bread, quiche, maple bread pudding and coffee and were on the road by 8:00. All of their products were so yummy! Thanks for the recommendation, Marcel!

This part of Quebec, besides being by the St. Lawrence, is a lot of farm land. The secondary highway we were on was bordering the St. Lawrence, with the highway often being only metres away from the water's edge, at high tide.

The secondary highways... The way to travel!

 Granite outcrops... very cool!

 La Pocatiere... where Marie's family
lived before their last move.

 Following the St-Lawrence Seaway... beautiful!

Near Riviere-du-Loup

On the secondary highway we were following, between some of the villages, we would see the occasional group of 2 to 4 backpackers. We were curious as to where they were headed, so we stopped and asked two of them.

The hikers...

They were doing le "Chemin des Navigateurs", the route from Pointe au Pere to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre.    http://www.chemindesnavigateurs.org/index.html
For a few weeks in June, 4 backpackers a day are allowed to start the trail, going from village to village following the same route. They all stop at the same designated places for the night where they can use the facilities but must bring everything they need. The walk lasts exactly 21 days.

We passed by a sign for a little village called St-Germain! That is my father's name, who passed away a few months ago. How appropriate... my father and mother used to love travelling with their trailer. We had so many great family trips in the trailer! Such great memories! We had to take the short detour to go visit St-Germain.

 Eglise St-Germain

Long driving day, taking all the side roads we possibly could. We are seeing so much more that way! Longer driving times and distances, but we are seeing a lot more than just highways!

 Great name for a town!

 Getting closer to our destination!

The road led to the ocean! Beautiful!
One more right turn here and we are soon in Cocagne!

What a beautiful drive... once again, we are staying
on the scenic route for the last leg of our journey.

Cocagne at last!

Arrived at Lise and Jeep's place around 9:30. Set up, had a quick visit then off to bed! We've reached our destination... on time! For the rest of this trip, no more long driving days will be necessary!!
