Day 27 - Mira River to Truro, Nova Scotia - Sunday, July 14

We left our campsite in Mira River (near Louisbourg) and headed out to Iona, still in Cape Breton to the Highland Village Museum. This is a living history museum and folklife/cultural centre for Gaelic language and culture in Nova Scotia. It has 11 period buildings with costumed animators and farm animals and more, with spectacular views of the Bras d'Or Lakes. Another very interesting walk back through time.

The black house... how they lived in Scotland late 1700's,
before immigrating to Cape Breton

Early 1800's, many Scottish now having settled here in Cape Breton...

I don't know if I mentioned that the Bras d'Or Lakes on Cape Breton are known as the largest inland sea, as they are salt water lakes.

It was now time to leave Cape Breton to continue our journey. We left feeling a little sad, but determined to return again. We loved our time here.

Click here to see a 19 sec video of the rotating bridge at the Canso Causeway, where we get off the island of Cape Breton.

Drove to Truro and stopped at the Scotia Pines Campground for the night. Got to catch up on my laundry which was by now overflowing... Robert took advantage of electricity, cell service and WiFi and finished updating the blog and taking care of some bills.

Our campsite in Truro... luxury! Electricity, water, sewer
and a good WiFi connection... even cell service!

Getting through the last pile!
