We slept in and hung out at our site in morning. It was raining off and on.
The view from our trailer, parked on Lise and JP's property!
Great campgrounds here! We recommend it!
The rosary on the clothesline...
An Acadian tradition on the wedding day.
"Lise, oublies pas de mettre ton chapelet sur la ligne a hardes (vêtements)"
The wedding was in Bouctouche, a few minutes away and as we were included in the family wedding pictures, we had to be ready and at the Marina by 4:00, where photos were being taken. The outdoor venue was cancelled due to rain.
Photos at the marina...
Sylvie was radiant and looked like a princess and Joël so handsome in his white tux! The large wedding party was beautiful to see. After the photo session, the bridal party left in their stretch limousine. It was pouring rain! Thank goodness for umbrellas!!
The Bouctouche church in the background...
During that time, Lise and Jeeps and their out of town guests went to the restaurant "la Sagouine" to have a light Acadian supper - une "chaudrée", which is a seafood chowder in a light broth. So delicious! Our first seafood since our arrival - yay!
Right after supper, we headed to the church, which was a few doors down the street. The wedding was at 7:00 pm. It was a grand old church, which was well attended, as this was a large wedding of about 400 people... The singer, who was accompanied by a guitarist, was serenading us with well chosen and meaningful songs throughout the service. I just loved his voice! It was a beautiful ceremony.
On voit pas la p'tite madame...
Oh! Voila la p'tite madame!
While the wedding party and their parents left in the limousine to tour around, we headed to the community hall, which had been transformed into a grand ballroom.
At the reception hall...
The decor was stunning and was all silver and white. There were candles everywhere and additional lighting was diffused through gauze which was draped on the ceiling. I thought the atmosphere was very romantic...
A large buffet luncheon was available for those who were hungry.
Michel-Claude et sa p'tite madame...
We were seated with Andrée, René, Zoé, Michel-Claude and Patti, right beside the head table, so had a great view of everything. After a while, the wedding party made their grand entrance, one couple at a time, by dancing their way to the head table. This was great fun and the music was perfect for it!
Lise and Jeeps making their grand entrance!
Ken and Barbie... good-looking proud parents!
Riel, hamming it up on his grand entrance!
Are you surprised?

Touching and humorous speeches followed, (Riel's was hilarious! Click to watch), interspersed with the traditional first dances, then we were treated to a video that a couple who was in the wedding party had made for them. We felt like we knew Joël and Sylvie that much better after that video. Then, it was party time! The DJ was excellent and had us all dancing till late into the night. I was glad I changed into more comfortable shoes after the photos! I barely sat down all night. We stayed till the very end.
It is obvious that Joël and Sylvie are very much in love and that it was the wedding of their dreams and everything they had hoped for! We are so happy for them..
Congratulations Joël and Sylvie!! We love you!
