This is it. We are actually heading west. Leaving New Brunswick, listening to the Rankin Family CD we bought as well as another one of various Cape Breton artists. With tears in our eyes, we left the Maritimes... à la prochaine!!
Heading Westward... time to head home!

We got a text from Nicole soon after leaving, saying that Jon's dad passed away early this morning. So glad we got to visit with him and passed on greetings of love from Jon, Nicole, Yannick and Luka. May he rest in peace....
We stopped to see the internstional historic site of Île Sainte Croix where Champlain created the first settlement in 1604. By the spring, over half his expedition had perished due to the harsh winter, scurvy etc. So the settlement was moved to Port Royal in the Annapolis region.

We had no idea we would see so many mountains in Maine. The beginning of the Appalachian Trail is here in Maine on Mount Katahdin. The trail goes from Maine to Georgia. Though we didn't see the beginning trail, we did see this section along one of the roads we were on. We have walked on the end/beginning in Georgia.

We ended up taking a wrong turn which added an hour of driving time.
Our goal had been to get into Quebec, but it was getting late, so we decided to call it a night and lucked out getting a beautiful campsite at Cathedral Pines Campground in Eustis, Maine, 22 miles from the Canadian border.
Long day!
