Day 37 - Set-Agathe-des-Monts to Val d'Or - Wed, July 24

Woke up to a very cool, windy day. Spent most of the morning uploading photos and blog in the camping reception area, which looked much like a café or lunch area at a ski hill.

Suzie usually composes the blog... I upload photos,
add a few comments to her descriptions,
add the captions under the photos
and finalize the upload... Teamwork!

We were in the Laurentian mountains (les Laurentides). Lots of lushly forested mountains, with Mont Tremblant being the star attraction. This is probably Québec's best and most famous ski resort, and is almost as high as Fernie.  Enjoyed driving through this region. Very hilly.

Mont Tremblant in distance on right... quite big! 2116 vertical feet

Cool painting on rock!

Cheap rent... interested?

Jackie finally got a restaurant started... If you zoom in you'll see on the sign:
"We provide enough food with every meal to feed the entire Ethiopan army!"

Awesome driving through these hills!

After Mont Laurier, we entered the Gatineau Valley where we stopped at "Chutes d'eau du Lac Roland" to see and hike a bit around the falls.

The rest stop... cool falls!

Chatting with a fellow traveler at a rest stop... the Bobsy Twins??

Chutes du Lac Roland... couldn't quite capture the beauty!

An old flume? We weren't sure...

We discovered BLUEBERRIES!!! Lots and lots of them so we feasted for quite some time on this tasty treat. A handful was easily picked in a minute or so.  Blueberry heaven I say! Tough to leave...

 Blueberries all over!

 And more!

 And more more!

 A content blueberry picker!

Cool boulder on the trail...

We then entered the Abitibi and Témiscamingue region where there seemed to be beautiful lakes nonstop! This area reminds us of Ontario and Whiteshell  regions.

We stopped just before Val d'Or in a small campground on Lac Boyer. Enjoyed the snow peas ("Mangetout" in Acadie) for supper that Lise had given - us picked fresh from her garden... Thanks Lise - much appreciated!

 Our campsite for the night...

Lac Boyer... Robert on a very short exploring ride after we set up...

Sunset on a quad trail Robert was on...

We played our first games of Backgammon of the trip - we are tied!
