We woke up to a balmy 7 degrees and rain! We are making our way to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park today. Robert wanted to get the tires rotated on the truck and bearings greased on the trailer, so with the help of Pierre, he arranged an appointment for us at Kal Tire. We then took the time to get some pictures of the town sites that we had toured in the dark last night with Pierre.
Running with the moose!
Oh no!
Yeouch!
Running with the wolves!
The house that Gilles and his family grew up in!
Boulley street... named after his grandfather
Huge piles of wood at the mill... that's only a fraction of it!
Robert also wanted to meet Gilles's brother Marc, so he decided to go to his workplace at the hardware store and play a little practical joke on him by asking him for some "wood-stretcher" and also some checkered paint. He either was tricked by Robert or was a good sport (Robert's not sure), but he did lead Robert to the wood glues and products looking for the fictitious wood stretcher product. Robert was happy to make his acquaintance! Click here to watch the April Fool's video about this fictitious wood stretcher material! Well worth the watch!
Marc: "I'm not sure that we carry the product you're looking for..."
Nope! Out of stock!
Leaving Hearst, there was literally not much besides many trees for 2 hours. Then, we got to Long Lac, where we stopped at a restaurant - a bit of a greasy spoon with nothing real inspiring on the menu, so I had my first order of Poutine, the one with fries and gravy and cheese curds and LOVED it! One has to indulge every now and then...
