Day 20 - Cabot Trail in Cape Breton - Sun, July 7

Happy Birthday Nick! Hope you have a fun day! We were thinking of you today as we explored this little bit of heaven in Cape Breton known as the Cabot Trail...

After a leisurely morning, we headed out with our truck and bikes to start exploring the Cabot Trail, taking time to check out a future beach campsite near Inverness. We found a beauty, so reserved it for a few days from now.

We also inquired about biking trails. It turns out that 95 km of the Trans-Canada Trail is on Cape Breton. We plan to do a good chunk of it in a few days.  We then started the drive with the idea that we would drive it all, doing an overview while taking advantage of the good weather, and then go back on subsequent days to hike, bike and go to the touristy places and shops while driving the trail the reverse way. We were amazed at every turn and stopped at almost each place we could to look and take photos. What follows is a sampling of what we saw.

 Tough to get here, but well worth the drive!

After about 3/4 of the trail, it got dark, so we will go back tomorrow to see the part we missed! We managed to catch the sunset just in time at Neil's Harbour!

It was an epic day! To make it the perfect ending to a perfect day, we saw a moose just after this sunset!
